Welcome to Lee Avenue's Music Room. The music classes I teach involve all students singing, playing various classroom instruments participating in musical activities/games that make learning music fun. Students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade are often involved in various movement activities while students in upper grades (4 and 5) are more involved in singing, playing instruments to accompany songs they are learing in addition to studying unit lessons (often spanning several weeks on topics such as " Great Composers," "Instruments of the Orchestra," "History of Jazz or Rock and Roll," "The Beatles," etc.). Classroom music students are taught essential elements of music education (melodic and rhythmic skills, reading and understanding music notation as well as music appreciation covering many styles of music (folk, classical, jazz, rock, pop, blues etc.). In addition to K-5 music classes, I also direct the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade Choruses, teach 3rd grade strings (violin and viola) and offer "Guitar Extra Help" lesson groups on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 8:35 - 9:00 AM.
