 SCHEDULE FOR STATE ASSESSMENTS

ELA Assessment: 

Testing will be administered in April 2013. The Grades 3–5 ELA Tests will be composed of three books per grade and will be administered over three consecutive days.
 
ELA Book 1 will be administered in two consecutive parts with a short break in between on Tuesday, April 16th.

ELA Book 2 will be administered on Wednesday, April 17th.
 
ELA Book 3 will be administered on Thursday, April 18th..

Make up days for the ELA Tests will be Friday, April 19th, Monday, April 22th, and Tuesday, April 23th.

Mathematics Book 1 will be administered on Wednesday, April 24th.

 Read at least 20 minutes every night!!
 Practice beginning sounds and ending sounds.
 Form new words by changing the beginning letters.
              (will, mill, fill; take, make, rake, cake)
 Discriminate between short and long sounds.
             (rat, rate;  bit, bite)
 Practice retelling a story.
 Talk about the characters of the story.
 Take a picture walk through a story and try to guess what 
 will
happen.
 Make up a new ending to the story.
 Study word wall list.
 Make flashcards for troublesome words; post them around the house.

Math Tips
 
   Practice counting to 100 by 1, 2, 5, and 10.
 
Practice counting money using pennies, nickels, dimes.
 Practice telling time to the hour and half hour.
 
Use a calendar to mark special events and days.
 
Practice counting by 10's starting from:
              1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10
 
Measure things around the house using non-standard measurement tools.
 
Study math facts.
 Go shopping and practice estimating and making change.


 Progress Reports

Progress reports are sent home every trimester along with the student’s report card.  The goals listed on each student’s IEP are assessed using the legend below.

Goal Progress Mark Legend

A - Achieved - The student has achieved the goal.

PG - Progressing Gradually - The student is making less than anticipated progress but may still achieve the goal.

NA - Not Achieved - The student has not achieved the goal.

PS - Progressing Satisfactorily - The student is making satisfactory progress and is expected to achieve the goal

PI - Progressing Inconsistently - The student is making inconsistent progress and may not achieve goal.
