The beautiful spring weather sometimes makes it tempting for students to not focus on their academics; therefore, I would like to ask each of you for your help in keeping your students motivated. It is crucial that students attend class, complete assignments, and seek additional support in their areas of weakness through our extra help classes in order for them to feel confident as they approach their exams. If you have not signed up for Power School; which enables you to monitor your child’s progress in school, please take a moment to go to the district’s website, www.hicksvillepublicschools.org and look for the link that says Power School.
As the warmer weather approaches, please remember that bare midriffs are not proper school attire, and underwear should be completely covered with outer clothing. Clothing that displays vulgarity, obscenity or libelous messages is not permitted. Footwear must be worn at all times, and hats are not to be worn except for medical or religious purposes. Violators of the dress code will be asked to turn the offending item inside out, or when practical, to replace it with a more acceptable item of clothing. Refusal to comply will result in disciplinary action. It is important that electronic devises such as cell phones and I-Pods not be used during the school day. They divert the students’ attention from activities in the classroom or hallway and interfere with the ability to hear instructions or announcements.
As we look forward to the many celebratory occasions approaching, please be aware of your child’s plans. Remember, there are absolutely no upcoming school sanctioned overnight trips.
