Volleyball
Forearm pass-Used when the ball is traveling towards you below your shoulders.
Set- Used when the ball is traveling toward you above your shoulders. Also known as the overhead pass.
Spike- the downward angle attack used to send the ball over to the opponents side.
Ready position- the position you should be moving in throughout the game. Knees bent, feet shoulder width apart, arms out eyes on the ball.
Net- the piece of equipment that separates one team from the other. Usually ranges in height from 7-8 ft.
Court- Area in which the game is played. Boundary Lines(Attack line, Serving line, End line, Side line)- the line markings on the court.- object used to hit in the game.
Communication- Calling the ball to let your teammate know you are going to play it.
Ball- Object used in the game.
Basketball
Court- The area where the game is played.
Ball- The object used to play the game.
Offense- When your team has possession of the ball. You are trying to shoot on the basket.
Defense- When your team does not have possession of the ball. You are trying to defend the basket.
Boundary lines- Side line, end line, three point line, and free throw or foul line.
Hoop, rim, or basket- Where you are trying to shoot the ball into.
Back board- The board behind the rim.
Dribble- Pushing the ball using your finger pads towards the floor, keeping it waist level and close to your body.
Pass- Chest, bounce, and overhead.
Jump ball- A way to begin the game.
Double dribble- Dribble stopping then dribbling again.
Traveling- Walking or running with the ball without dribbling. Free throw- a shot from behind the foul line taken after a player has been physically fouled.
Jump Shot- A shot in which the player shoots the ball into the basket at the top of their jump.
Lay-up- A shot in which a basket is attempted from under the net.
