I am often asked various questions concerning homework. Such questions focus on when should my child do his homework, where should he complete it, and how much help should be offered when completing it. I would like to offer you the following suggestions on homework. Your child should do as much of his homework as possible. You should guide him when needed but you should never complete it for him. If an assignment appears to be very difficult for him please inform his teacher. His teacher will likely review this topic with him in class. Homework is best completed in a quiet environment that is stocked with the necessary supplies needed to complete it. I have found that in my experience that homework is best completed shortly after your child arrives home from school. This is a decision, however, that varies from family to family and schedule to schedule. Homework should be a time for your child to practice and reinforce the skills taught in school. It also gives the teacher a clearer idea about your child's understanding of a subject. The school and your home are a team that wants what is best for your child. If there is a problem with the length of time needed to finish it or with its content, please don't hesitate to contact his teacher or me. Together we can accomplish great things for your child.
