November was a busy month in First Grade. Many students participated in
the Cold Turkey Challenge! In computer class we wrote about people who we
are thankful for. We made a turkey craft for Thanksgiving. It was
interesting to learn about Pilgrims and Native Americans. We are starting
to become great readers and writers! We loved reading two new stories in
class each week. We especially liked the non-fiction fish and frog
stories.
Kathleen Bart, our visiting author, encouraged all of the children to
design their own bear. Each bear was creative and unique! Every child
felt like an illustrator after her visit. In Math, we are beginning to
add and subtract. We are looking forward to the holiday season. We will
learn about different cultural traditions during this time.
