The
first month back at school has been exciting. We’ve made new friends and
have been very busy getting used to our daily routines and new class
work. We have begun chorus and some of us will begin taking violin,
viola, or cello lessons. In Reading, we are working on weekly stories,
vocabulary, spelling, and reading strategies. We are also learning about
the writing process and recently wrote descriptions about our interests
and our goals.
In Math, we have started off the year
interpreting and creating different graphs. We are now working on problem
solving skills and place value. In Science, we have explored matter,
physical changes, and chemical changes. We are beginning to work on types
of forces. In Social Studies, we are developing map skills using atlases
and will begin learning about our government, voting, and the upcoming
election. We are identifying and practicing good responsibility traits
and have started our Growing Healthy Program with safety.
In Language Arts, we will be working on
writing complete sentences and improving our editing skills. We will also
be working on identifying the four types of sentences. Parent/Teacher
conferences will be on October 21, October 28, November 20, and December
4. These will be half-days of school. Dismissal will be at 10:45 A.M.
Make sure you have signed up for a conference!
We
are looking forward to a great school year!
