The students at East Street have been very busy the last few weeks creating art projects. The kindergarten students painted caterpillars based on Eric Carle’s story, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Bright and colorful clowns with mixed media were created by our 1st grade students. The children in 2nd grade are thrilled to be starting their carousel horses, which is a favorite project loved by students and art teacher alike. The 3rd grade has learned about the famous artist Vincent Van Gogh and will be recreating his famous sunflowers. Masks are the subject for students in the 4th and 5th grade. Fun, interesting Mardi Gras masks are starting to be designed by the 4th grade. Ancient Egypt is the focus of our 5th grade project, where students are making the mask found in the tomb of King Tut.  Congratulations to all the students that participated in the Art Supervisors Display at Adelphi University.
