The kindergarten students will be ringing in the New Year with a science unit on the seasons. We will be concentrating on winter first and will be discussing the weather and temperature in our part of the country, appropriate clothing to wear, and the many activities which can be enjoyed during this season. The special behaviors of certain animals in the winter will be discussed, as well as the reasons for the seasons, and the seasonal cycle.

We have some exciting activities, crafts and discussions planned in Social Studies for two of the January holidays, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and the Chinese New Year. Community helpers and their specific jobs are also a part of our Social Studies curriculum for this month.

The subject of math will find us finishing up our unit on numbers, and moving on to measuring objects in both standard and non-standard units.

Happy New Year to all from the kindergarteners!
