Welcome all students and parents to the 2012-2013 school year.  It has been a wonderful summer and now we are ready for fun and learning in school.
               All I really needed to know about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned in Kindergarten. It is so true that kids learn so much about how they fit into the world when they attend school.  I would like to welcome all parents and children to Kindergarten at East Street School. My name is Mrs. Susan Farrell and I’ve been a teacher for Hicksville Schools for 16 years. I have taught Kindergarten for eleven of those years. I enjoy teaching all children and being a part of the beginning of their experiences here at East Street School and in their journey throughout Hicksville Schools. It is a joy to watch the children grow and develop as the children experience full-day Kindergarten which is a big step for most children. The children will learn so much about themselves and others by experiencing learning in school.

It is important to teach children to become independent and more self reliant.  It empowers children and makes them proud when they can button their own coat or tie their own shoes.  It will also be liberating for you as a parent to watch your child develop skills that will help them become independent young children.
