The Scope Pre-K class recently had a surprise secret reader, Mrs. Hance, the school principal! Mrs. Hance read Sneezy the Snowman to the children.
Woodland kindergarten, first and third grade students celebrated the Chinese New Year by creating decorative masks and marching in a parade throughout the school. (click for more info)

On Monday, November 21st, the second grade classes explored reading, writing, math and science while making cornbread. Several parents assisted the students read directions as they added and mixed the cornbread ingredients. (click for more info)
On Thursday November 17th from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Ms. Williamson along with support from Mr. Vollmer, Mrs. Dilena, Mrs. Sabatella and Mrs. Negri Diaz sponsored “Jump Rope for Heart” for our first, second and third grade students. (click for more info)
On Thursday, November 17th, members of the Student Council running for the various offices gave their election speech to the third, fourth and fifth grade students. Voting took place immediately after the speeches. (click for more info)

Woodland School opened its doors for the 2016-17 school year on Wednesday, September 7th. As is our tradition, our fifth grade students acted as escorts for our incoming kindergarten students and any other students coming to Woodland for the first time. (click for more info)
Woodland's Wonderful Gardens have a brand new sunny home thanks to generous donations from the Dickerson family, Home Depot- Ms. Eileen Northshield, and our students and families. The new garden spot is sunny, close to the playgrounds, and very close to a water source. (click for more info)
On Monday, April 18th, Woodland’s Site Based Committee delivered two huge boxes of books to Ronald McDonald House in New Hyde Park.The books were purchased with the funds raised during our “Coins for a Change” campaign in which our student dropped their loose change in one of our collection boxes. The week of Dec.5 – 11, 2016 has been designated as Computer Science Education Week. In support of this week, many of the students at Woodland will participate in an Hour of Code. (click for more info)
Mrs. Cataldo’s class is working on a lesson in Reading Street. After reading the story, Mrs. Cataldo posed a question to the students. They were given time to “turn and talk” and then using her random popsicle sticks selected a student to answer the question as to what was the job of the person taking the pictures.
