Hicksville High School Teacher is Selected as Barnes and Noble Teacher of the Year Finalist

Hicksville HS Teacher Chosen as Barnes and Noble Teacher of the Year Finalist

Hicksville High school art teacher, Beth Atkinson, has been chosen from 400 entries in the region for Barnes and Noble’s Teacher of the Year contest.  The contest charged students with the task of nominating one of their favorite teachers by writing an essay highlighting their most valued attributes.  Hicksville High School senior, Stephanie Dell’Aria answered the call, nominating our very own Mrs. Atkinson.  Stephanie and Mrs. Atkinson were presented with the award at a recent ceremony at the Carle Place Barnes and Noble.

One teacher was chosen for each of three levels, elementary, middle and high school.  The three regional winners move on as finalists to the national competition, the winner of which will receive $5,000 for his or her school.  We wish Mrs. Atkinson the best of luck!
