The fourth graders recently attended a presentation from LIPA representative Bob Coyle.He spoke to the students about electrical safety.He showed the students protective gear that is worn by LIPA employees.He had a model of a town with a house, school bus, and electrical wires that actually worked.He explained that some wires run underground and that some are linked from pole to pole high above the ground.Then, he showed them what would happen if wires were down and live.He explained that they should never go near them because there is no way of telling if they are dangerous.Mr. Coyle also explained how to keep themselves safe at home by never using electrical appliances near water.
