• 2017 Bond Information

    BOnd 2017

    Approval of the Bond will allow the District to create 21st Century Programs and Facilities for our students and our community, with no additional property tax to residents. The approval of Propositions 1 and 2 will replace maturing debt from the 2002 bond, which is scheduled to be paid off in 2018.   • Supe’s On!

    On Thursday, October 17, 2017, Dr. Bonuso facilitated conversation about the upcoming Bond Vote in November. Energy and enthusiasm permeated the room as participants discussed the exciting plans for Hicksville’s schools and community. This popular series of Supe’s On conversations with the Superintendent and a small number of pre-registrants is designed to create opportunities to discuss important issues and ideas in a more personal, intimate, and informal setting.

  • Reading About Rights

    As a supplement to their study of American history and celebration of Constitution Day on Sept. 18, students at Burns Avenue completed a variety of classroom activities related to the nation’s founding document.

    The sixth grade Hicksville Middle School Math Olympiad Team competed at the Nassau County Association of Math Supervisors Nassau County Math Tournament hosted by SUNY Old Westbury.

  • Commemoration of Memorial Day

    Hicksville Middle School Student Council members and their advisors, Ms. Fitzgerald and Ms. Presti, decorated the front of the middle school in commemoration of Memorial Day and in recognition of the men and women who have served in our armed services and who continue to serve.

    The high school’s student government presented the third annual Talent for the Troops fundraiser to benefit wounded veterans, and raised more than $14,000.

  • Kiwanis Youth Awards

    Sunday, April 30th marked the 55th Anniversary of the Kiwanis Youth Awards. This recognition began as a response to the President Kennedy’s Physical Fitness Initiative and then was expanded to include academic improvement, as well. At this year’s brunch the Kiwanis Club of Hicksville recognized 8th graders from Hicksville Middle School, Holy Family School and Our Lady of Mercy School. Selected by their respective teachers and administrators, these children were the most improved in either academic subject(s) or physical fitness.
