Automated External Defibrillators (AED)

    The use and deploymentof Automated External Defibrillators (AED) in emergencies may reduce thenumbers of deaths associated with sudden cardiac arrest. Therefore, theDistrict implemented a Public Access Defibrillation Program (PAD Program) anddeveloped procedures on how to handle sudden cardiac arrest in students, staffand others involved in school activities.


    The District has 13 AEDslocated throughout the district. There are two at the High School, two at theMiddle School, one at each of the elementary schools, one at the AdministrationBuilding, and one that is for the Athletic Trainer. All coaches are required tobe trained and certified in the use of the defibrillators as well as multipleemployees at each of the schools and Administration Building. Ongoing trainingby the district ensures that there are staff members ready to utilize the AEDif needed. The AEDs are monitored and maintained on a regular basis to ensure theyare ready for use.
