The Hicksville Public Schools community celebrated the exceptional talent and dedication of its student musicians at the September 18 Board of Education meeting. Several students were recognized for their selection to the highly competitive NYSSMA All-State festival, with three chosen to perform at the annual Winter Conference in Rochester this December.
Students selected for the All-State festival include:
• Emma Dang, Junior: All-State Orchestra (Violin)
• Aerie Lim, Junior: All-State Orchestra (Violin)
• Lauren Mason, Senior: All-State Orchestra (Flute)
The district also proudly acknowledged the following students who were named All-State alternates, another significant accomplishment:
• Diella Chung, Senior: All-State Orchestra (Violin)
• Lauren Mason, Senior: All-State Band (Piccolo)
• Jillian Galea, Junior: All-State Choir (Soprano)
• Emma Dang, Junior: All-State Jazz Band (Piano)
• Kaylee Lin, Junior: All-State Orchestra (Cello)
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Theodore Fulton expressed his pride, stating, “These students have showcased immense talent and commitment, and we are so proud that they will represent Hicksville at the NYSSMA conference. We wish them a wonderful performance in December.”
