AQUATIC FACILITY

RULES AND REGULATIONS

For everyone’s health and safety we ask you to observe the following rules and any and all direction from pool lifeguards and supervisors.  Failure to do so may result in ejection from the facility.

The New York State Department of Health advises a cleansing shower prior to the use of any public bathing facility.  *No person will be permitted in the pool having signs and symptoms of illness: COVID symptoms, skin lesions, sores, or inflamed eyes, mouth, nose or ear discharge, carrying communicable disease or having any type of bandage, adhesive tape, etc., on their body.*

*There is no diving into the pool anywhere especially at the shallow end at any time.

Cameras or Video equipment, phones used as cameras are not permitted in the Aquatic Center at any time.  If caught videotaping patrons you will be asked to vacate the facility.

All persons who utilize this facility must follow the directions and requests of any/all Lifeguards present.  Failure to do so will result in expulsion from the Aquatic Center with no Refund. 

Children under age 15 years, and anyone displaying signs of distress when swimming will be restricted to shallow water areas at the discretion of lifeguards on duty for everyone’s safety.  Deep water swim tests may be requested by a lifeguard at any time for any patron.

Diving Board will be CLOSED except for interscholastic competitive training and competition as approved for school teams or clubs.

 

Swimmers must present a photo ID and be signed in at the table upon entry.  Preferred forms of ID are: driver's licenses and school ID cards showing grade level for student.  Patrons will not be permitted into the pool building outside of the advertised public swim and swim program schedules.

A responsible adult who will supervise behavior on deck and in the locker areas must accompany children under age 15. Any child who requires assistance in the water must be accompanied IN THE WATER by an adult who should be within arm’s reach. Please limit your use of the locker rooms to the greatest extent possible.  Use discretion when having a child use an opposite sex locker area.

Management of this facility recommends that boys and girls aged 6 and over use the most appropriate locker area for the privacy of all participants

Proper bathing attire is required; bathing suits, rash guards, board shorts are appropriate for the pool; NO gym shorts, tee shirts or other regular clothing / pajamas, sweat pants; nothing that prohibits movement.  Tight clothing such as lycra/spandex tights and skin shirts are permitted.  Bathing caps and goggles are optional. Masks that cover the nose are not allowed because they prohibit correct breathing technique. Jewelry, items that could become entangled and metal hair clips are not allowed in the pool. Please secure them in a locker or leave them at home.
 ** At no time are Diapers or "Swim Diapers" permitted to be worn in the water.

Pollution of the pool by any bodily fluids is strictly prohibited. Nose blowing and expectorating while in the pool is not allowed. No urinating or defecating in the pools.

NO SMOKING of any kind on school grounds.  Additionally, any person who appears to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be asked to leave the facility immediately.

Food and drink are expressly prohibited from the entire pool area.
Water in plastic bottles ONLY is allowed. Please dispose of containers properly.

 General safety rules are in effect at all times, including

  • No Running anywhere in the building.
  • No Diving in shallow water
  • No loud voices, no foul or offensive language
  • No outdoor type rough play
  • No radios are permitted in the pool
  • Pool toys are never permitted in the pool

Lanes are for lap swimming ONLY. Please follow the directions of lifeguards and participate in our culture of safety by maintaining a safe distance and limiting occupation of each lane to the current posted maximum. DO NOT CONGREGATE WITHIN THE LANE.

Hyperventilation, extreme hypoxic training, and static apnea are NOT ALLOWED at this facility.  You will be asked to leave if you participate in this dangerous behavior.
