Society's Objectives:

- Advance the students' knowledge of classical and modern science
- Communicate with the scientific community
- Aid the civic community with its comprehension of science
- Encourage students to participate in community service and in turn, encourage a dedication to the pursuit of scientific knowledge that benefits all humankind

Membership Information:
The Science National Honor Society is a prestigious organization dedicated to those students who excel in science. Its current members work hard and dedicate a great deal of their time to help the school and community. It is the prominent scientific organization that will engender a new group of young thinkers who will be the future of industry, research, and scientific exploration for America. Since membership is not open to everyone, being selected is undoubtedly an honor.
Requirements for Membership:
- Students are chosen in the 11th and 12th grade
- Students must earn a 90 or higher GPA in science courses
- Students must exemplify scholarship, leadership, service, and character
- Students must be enrolled in at least two honors or upper level science class during or prior to the eleventh grade year
- Students must have earned 85 or higher in their regent exams. Anything less than 85 is unacceptable for membership into SNHS
- Students must fill out the application correctly (does not guarantee selection)
Membership Duties:
- Members must maintain a 3.5 or higher GPA throughout the science curriculum
- Must be enrolled in an honors or upper level science class during their eleventh and twelfth grade year
- Members must take four or more courses (full year) of science during high school
- Members must always exemplify scholarship, leadership, service, and character
- Members must attend all SNHS meetings
- Members must participate in SNHS events - bake sales and other fundraisers, MS Walk, College Visits to both FIU and St. Thomas University's Science Departments
- Members must participate in science academic competitions
- Members must attend one local chapter officer's science lecture annually
*Failure to complete any of the requirements listed above may result in termination from the Hicksville Chapter of the Science National Honor Society.
