Twenty-two Hicksville High School students participated in the St. Francis Prep Virtual Model United Nations Conference held on February 6th. Two of the Model UN students won awards at the PrepMUNC conference. Pratiksha Malayil, who was a member of the World Health Organization representing India, won for Best Delegate and Alina Nodrat, who was also a member of the World Health Organization representing the USA, was recognized for Outstanding Delegate.

This is the first time Hicksville High School students participated in a virtual Model United Nations Competition. Student delegates prepared for the tournament researching their countries and the issues concerning their committees online for several weeks with help from their advisors, Dr. Andrea Maxeiner and Ms. Meryl Landau. The virtual Model United Nations tournament included schools from across Long Island who gathered together via Zoom for a day-long conference with a final award ceremony in the afternoon. Congratulations to all team members and especially to Alina and Pratiksha for their awards!
