Posted on 07/29/2021

This summer Inna Mishiev, Director of Special Education & Pupil Personnel Services and Tara Schwartz, Coordinator of the Extended School Year Program at Fork Lane partnered with NY Project Hope's Steven Rose and his Therapy Dog, Hook, as they visited classrooms, hallways and most of all the hearts of the students and staff. NY Project Hope is an emotional support helpline that provides crisis counseling to help New Yorkers cope during the COVID-19 pandemic. NY Project Hope is a program of the NYS Office of Mental Health (funded by FEMA). Steven Rose, a Licensed Social Worker and Hook have visited the Extended School Year Program at Fork Lane Elementary on many occasions and have become invested in the program. Mr. Rose and Hook engage with our students and staff in strengthening social interaction skills and self-esteem. Hook has quickly become the Extended School Year Mascot!
