Congratulations to the Hicksville Middle School Mock Trial Team

On March 23rd, the Hicksville Middle School Mock Trial team competed in their annual competition through Western Suffolk Boces. Both the Hicksville prosecution and defense teams were able to win their trials against Jericho Middle School. This year's trial was a fictional case involving a teenager selling vaping materials to another teenager, who then ended up in the hospital with a serious medical condition. The Hicksville prosecution team included the following students: Jumanah, Kashish, Lavleen, Tanesha, Aesha, Saanvi, Lakshay, Kimberly. The Hicksville defense team included the following students: Sarah, Ariana, Aashritha, Diya, Sruthi, Rithika, Yuvra, Kailash. From November 2020 to March 2021, the Mock Trial team met twice a week with their club advisor, Mr. Saur, and worked on examining the evidence, drafting questions, learning courtroom decorum, and writing their opening and closing statements. Their months of hard work, preparation, and dedication not only paid off at the competition, but gave many of these students their first legal and courtroom experience. Congratulations to all involved with the Hicksville Middle School Mock Trial team!
