Kindergarten co-teachers, Ms. Lucy Vieco and Ms. Danielle Baker hosted a Writers’ Workshop Celebration in their room as students completed their Show and Tell Bend I Unit. Writers’ Workshop traditionally celebrate students’ writing by having the students share their work with those around them in their lives.
Students showed the invited guests their special toys and shared their amazing sketches with personalized labeling. The pictures they drew inspired their writing about their special toy. Students have grown this year from writing letters and words to full sentences. There surely could be a couple of future authors in this class!

A Kindergartener was excited to show me his race car, which inspired his writing displayed on his iPad.

Another Kindergartener was beaming with joy related to her writing about her Minnie Mouse plush friend. Her final story was shared using her iPad.

One student read aloud her story to staff visitors invited to the room for the Writer’s Workshop Celebration.

Old Country Road Teachers, Ms. Lucy Vieco and Ms. Danielle Baker, summarize the writing unit with their students’ participation in pointing to the “How We Write” process of writing. Kindergarten students wore their “Writer’s Celebration” and “Author’s Celebration” hats made with each child’s personal touch.
