Sixth Annual Bright Beginnings Backpack Project

On August 23, 2018, the Rotary Club of Hicksville South held a ceremony for the Sixth Annual Bright Beginnings Backpack Project.  The Rotary distributed 700 backpacks filled with school supplies to local school districts and community organizations.  Hicksville Public Schools received three boxes of backpacks to distribute to needy students.  Mrs. Litzman, Superintendent of Schools, attended with Ms. McConnell, Principal of Old Country Road School, and Board of Education member, Sunita Manjrekar.  Mr. Mehta, Charter President, welcomed Mrs. Litzman and Mr. Modi, Project Chair and President-Elect, provided words of wisdom for students in using the pencils inside the backpack to make their “mark” for the new school year.  Mrs. Litzman thanked the Rotary for their generosity and the opportunity for students to begin the school year ready to learn and make their “mark” in the world.
