• Budget Overview

The school district budget is the operational plan of the District's programs, stated in financial terms, for the fiscal year July 1 through June 30. The Board of Education is responsible for adopting the school budget and presenting it to the voters at an annual public hearing. The budget must be presented in three components - Program, Capital and Administrative.  The law includes other requirements, such as the mailing to each resident of the budget notice and the property tax report card.

The annual budget process is an important function of school district operations and serves as a means to improve communication within the community. The Board of Education of the Hicksville School District, with the assistance of Administration, develops the budget during budget and committee meetings throughout the winter and into the spring.  The goal is to develop a budget that is fiscally responsible, supporting the programs of the district, while recognizing the financial burden to the taxpayers.  The budget vote and trustee election is held on the third Tuesday of May each year.  A budget revote, if necessary, is held on the third Tuesday in June.
