Summer Reading: "Build A Better World!"

Old Country Road Elementary School's

Summer Reading Program 2017

Many students are participating in the biggest summer reading challenge ever at OCR!

They know that books are fun, engaging, mysterious, thought-provoking, informative, meaningful, inventive, inspiring, and motivational.

Why not dive into good books throughout the summer and help build a better world?

Old Country Road Elementary School has an activity booklet, available in our office, that has some fun activities to complete over the summer. There is an activity layout page with several fun activities for your child. When they complete the actibvitay listed on that space, they should color it in. If they compelte all the acivities on the page by the time school begins in ?September they will be eligible for a special reward. There will be colorful, labeled sand pails in the lobby for the students to place their completed activity booklets in.
Our wonderful and friendly Hicksville librarians are waiting to help your child find exciting books!

Author Kate DiCamillo, the current National Ambassador for ‘Young People’s Literature,’ an award-winning writer, says:

“If you can read, you can do anything you want to do in this world."

You can teach yourself anything. It opens the door to everything!

…There is just so much to gain from reading...You learn about yourself and other people.
