Career and Technical Education

Students who are interested in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program and/or pathway to graduation may apply to attend school for half the day at the Nassau BOCES Joseph M. Barry Career and Technical Education Center or the BOCES Long Island High School for the Arts. These CTE programs, along with the qualifying academic credits specific to each program, are approved by the New York State Education Department and provide hands-on learning that may lead to a Career and Technical Education endorsement following the successful completion of an industry examination. Hicksville High School also offers on-campus BOCES-sponsored CTE pathway programs in Nurse Assisting and Police Science and Criminal Justice. More details about Nassau BOCES Barry Tech, Long Island High School for the Arts, and the on-campus CTE programs can be found beginning on page 12 of the Hicksville High School 2026-27 Course of Studies Catalog. Applications are available in the Guidance Office and can be accessed below. Completed applications must be submitted to the Guidance Office by 2:30 p.m. on January 16, 2026. Applications will not be accepted after 2:30 p.m. on January 16, 2026.

Students must be on track to meet all graduation requirements and have satisfactory attendance in order to be considered for enrollment in any CTE program. Current 11th-grade students will only be eligible for one-year programs that lead to certification. Please note that students will not be placed in the GC Technical Program in Levittown. If the number of qualified applicants exceeds the district’s cap, a lottery will be conducted to select candidates, and a waitlist may be established if necessary.
