June Newsletter English.pdf

Hicksville School District Newsletter No.10Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, stands as a testament to the enduring quest for freedom and equality. On this day, June 19th, 1865, the last enslaved African Americans in the United States were finally emancipated, marking the end of one of the darkest chapters in American history. But Juneteenth is not just a historical event; it's a celebration of resilience, courage, and the unwaverin human spirit. It reminds us that the fight for freedom is ongoing and that we must continue to strive for equality and justice for all.
Father’s Day offers an opportunity to express gratitude and appreciation for the diverse array of fathers and father figures in our lives. It's a day to honor their dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to their families. Whether it's a biological father coaching his child's sports team or a mentor providing guidance and support to a young person in need, acknowledging the role of father figures uplifts their spirits and reinforces their significance. One of the most fundamental aspects of fatherhood is the emotional connection it fosters. Father figures provide stability and guidance, nurturing children’s growth and development. Research consistently highlights the positive correlation between paternal involvement and various aspects of a child's life, including academic performance, social skills, and overall well-being. For in their love, guidance, and support, fathers and father figures embody the epitome of strength, shaping not only the lives of their children but also the fabric of society itself.
Summer break disrupts the routine, leading to uncertainty and adjustment for both parents and children. With more free time, children may need increased supervision. This can be particularly challenging for working parents who need to balance their job responsibilities with childcare. Children may be tempted to spend excessive amounts of time in front of screens, and participating in summer camps, classes, and other activities can be expensive, placing financial strain on families. So, here are some tips for parenting during the

Hicksville School District Newsletter No.9Mother's Day is celebrated at different times of the year worldwide. For those living in the United States, it is always scheduled for the second Sunday in the month of May. While the date may change annually, marking your calendar for this joyous occasion is as simple as remembering that special weekend.
One of the greatest things about Mother’s Day is that you can celebrate it however you’d like. There are no rigid themes or guidelines; it's a day to celebrate in your own unique way, simply showering your mother with love and appreciation.
But why stop there? This day isn’t just about honoring biological mothers. It's a beautiful opportunity to celebrate all those who've played a nurturing role in our lives. After all, families are diverse and come in countless shapes and sizes.
Join Us for the Grand Opening!
We are thrilled to announce the grand opening of the new school district food pantry at our Old Country Rd school on May 31! This is an exciting opportunity to come together and building a stronger, and more connected community. How You Can Help?

Hicksville School District Newsletter No.8In the past, a lot of symbols were made just to spread awareness about Autism. But now, we're seeing a move towards more diverse and joyful symbols, inspired or even made by the autistic community.
Our collective understanding and perceptions of autism keeps growing in a kinder and more genuine direction. Alongside this, the signs we use to represent autism have changed too.
What's the big reason for this change? It's the voices of autistic people themselves. These symbols are all about embracing acceptance and feeling proud of who you are.
A symbol that currently seems to be gaining more popularity among the autism community is the gold or rainbow infinity symbols for neurodiversity.
