Please be aware that the District maintains the right to verify residency through the utilization of a home visit. New registrants and/or residents may be contacted by the Registration Office to schedule a home visit. Unscheduled home visits may be conducted at the discretion of the District.

    Hicksville Public Schools now utilizes an online registration tool called PowerSchool Enrollment. PowerSchool Enrollment is for families who are new to the district, as well as existing families who need to enroll additional children. Click on the PowerSchool Registration Portal link below to get started.

    Step 1: If this is the first child you are registering in the Hicksville Public School District via the PowerSchool online registration form, you will be required to create a PowerSchool Registration account before you can proceed. This account can be used to register any other children in the future as well. Please Note: This is NOT a PowerSchool Parent Portal account username or password.

    If you have registered a child previously via the PowerSchool online registration process, please log in with the email address and password used to create your account.  If you have forgotten your password, please utilize the "forgot password" feature located on the login screen.

    Step 2:  Print your completed form AFTER you receive the “form completed” message.

    Step 3:  You will receive an email message from the District Central Registrar in reference to the required documentation needed to complete the registration or enrollment process.

    IMPORTANT: The registration process is not complete until the online registration form is submitted and all mandatory documentation is approved by the central registrar

  • Eligibility for Attendance Regulations

    The following regulations have been developed in order to regulate student enrollment within the Hicksville Public Schools and to provide a mechanism to ensure that the district’s educational programs and resources are provided to only those students who are legally entitled to benefit from them.


    Kindergarten

    In order to be admitted to kindergarten in September, a child must be 5 years of age on or before December 1 of the school year in which the child enters kindergarten. Registration for children who expect to enter kindergarten in September will be held in the preceding spring.


    New and Transfer Students

    All students new to the district or resident children transferring to the public schools may register at any time during the school year.

    All registrants for public school or Hicksville residents requesting transportation to private/parochial school must provide:

    Proof of Residence i.e., house deed, duly executed lease agreement, real estate closing statement, Nassau County tax bill, homeowner’s insurance bill, electric bill, water bill, mortgage statement, notarized affidavit from the landlord, and

    Proof of Birth i.e., birth certificate, passport, baptismal certificate, satisfactory proof that none of the above exist, along with other documentation acceptable to the superintendent and

    Proof of Parental Relationship i.e., birth certificate indicating parents’ name(s) along with parents’ photo ID; baptismal certificate indicating parents’ name(s) along with parents’ photo ID; duly executed court documents indicating legal guardianship, along with legal guardian’s photo ID; duly executed adoption documents along with adoptive parents’ photo ID; duly executed court custody documents along with custodian’s photo ID; notarized affidavit from nonresident custodial parent indicating permission to allow the child to reside with noncustodial parent/ guardian who is a legal resident of the Hicksville Public Schools. Noncustodial parents must also complete an affidavit, along with a notarized affidavit from a nonresident custodial parent or legal guardian, indicating permission to allow the child to reside with the person in the custodial relationship who is a legal resident of the Hicksville Public School District. The person in the custodial relationship must also complete an affidavit and present both affidavits at the time of registration, a notarized affidavit of emancipation and proof of immunization. 

  • Parents of students currently enrolled in the Hicksville School District must notify the District Central Registrar and reprove residency when there is a change in address. This must be done whether or not transportation services are provided or there is a change in school placement.
