INTERSCHOLASTIC ATHLETICS
The Hicksville School District offers an interscholastic athletic program with educational values for all students. It provides a varied program for all boys and girls in grades 7 - 12.
We believe interscholastic athletics serve as a model for life, providing opportunities for students with regards to responsibility, fair play, cooperation, concern for others, leadership, respect for authority, good citizenship, loyalty, and tolerance. It is a competitive (not recreational) program. Although winning games can be considered a measure of success, there are many ways to measure success. This is not to say that the will to win is not important; but of greater importance is the development of the person and affording each student the opportunity to become all that he or she is capable of being. Thus, the athletic program is a vital part of the total school curriculum.
Our programs are governed by the rules, regulations and procedures prescribed by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association, Section VIII and the Hicksville School District.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATION ON A TEAM
If you are interested in participating in the Hicksville Interscholastic Athletic Program, please follow the following guidelines. New York State regulations require a yearly sport physical examination prior to participation; it is your responsibility to meet that standard.
- If you had the sport medical exam within the last 12 months, you must also complete the medical questionnaire/parental consent form for each sport played prior to each season throughout the school year.
- Please Register on FamilyID
- All Forms must be completed and uploaded to FamilyID
- All forms are available on the Athletic Website under: "Required Forms for Participation"
- Please make every effort to have all forms uploaded to FamilyID at least five days prior the starting date to each sport so you may start practice immediately.
- Only Hicksville Sports Physical Forms will be accepted.
- Clearance must be obtained through the nurse's office before a student may participate. This is important. NO ONE will be able to begin practice until all forms are reviewed, as we require at least one day to review the forms.
