Measures of Academic Progress (MAP)
Students in grades K through 8 participate in the Measures of Academic Progress Assessment (MAP) by Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA). The MAP is a standardized adaptive assessment which measures student achievement in reading and math. The test is administered in the fall and spring each year. Following the administration, MAP reports are generated to identify students' strengths and areas in need of growth. This data is used to monitor student progress and make decisions when planning the most appropriate learning experiences for students. Targeted instruction is provided to support student growth and achievement. Following the administration, parents receive individual student reports indicating progress in the areas of reading and math in their PowerSchool accounts..

Kindergarten students will be given the Developmental Indicators for the Assessment of Learning (DIAL) in May or June prior to entering school. The purpose of this screening is to prepare for the individual needs of the students.
The development skills, which are measured in the DIAL, are usually considered stepping stones for success in school. Most preschool children have acquired the skills used in this test by the time they are 5. The results of the DIAL are to be used in conjunction with classroom teacher observation at the start of the school year to identify strengths and areas of focus. This will help teachers develop their plans specifically with your child in mind.

The New York State Education Department (NYSED) has developed a Parent Dashboard to increase transparency and make information about school performance and other school-level data easier for parents and the public to access. The Parent Dashboard is part of New York’s Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) plan, which emphasizes equity in education for all students and expands measures of school accountability and student success. The Parent Dashboard is now available in addition to the New York State School Report Card on NYSED’s public data site. The Parent Dashboard offers information on all public schools including charter schools.
In 2019, NYSED gathered feedback from parents and stakeholders to guide the work of developing the Parent Dashboard. The data elements that parents ranked highest on the survey are available on the Parent Dashboard.
If you have any questions or would like more information, please visit the Parent Dashboard, which includes frequently asked questions and contact information.
