Therapy Dog Visits Lee Avenue

Students at Lee Avenue recently enjoyed a special visit from Liya, a therapy dog from Therapy Dogs of Long Island.  Dog owner Aimee Pontrelli brought the four-year-old beagle mix dog to the school to spent time interacting with students to promote relaxation, emotional well-being, and positive social connections.

During the visit, students had the opportunity to meet and pet Liya, learn about the role of therapy dogs, and experience firsthand the calming effect therapy dogs can have. The program aims to support students’ emotional health while creating a warm and engaging school environment. Therapy dog visits are known to reduce stress, encourage empathy, and boost overall morale among students.
